I’m 6 months clean and sober today! I used to be in show bizz like Miami’s Gucci Crew but it was too much fun for me with too many temptations. This track is a mix of MIA bass and Run DMC style rap and it works for me.

Boys Noize is from Germany and he emerged onto the scene really in 2007 with his debut LP Oi Oi Oi. This track is a few months old in blogworld terms but it is a great track worth revisiting, as it contains old school electro elements to create a new dance banger.

MASTA ACE /// ” BORN TO ROLL” /// DOWNLOAD LINK
I was first introduced to Masta Ace in the late nineties by a best of compiltation I randomly bought at Mondo Kim’s on St Marks (now sadly closed). My routine in college at NYU was to spend all my extra money on used cd’s and vinyl at Kim’s. In fact my girlfriend at the time was Korean and had a vague relation to Mr. Kim so I would get free VHS rentals that I would copy at my job on the video floor. Kim’s had the best selection of movie rentals in the city hands down.
Masta Ace is a juice crew alumni who has some great golden era tracks like “Music Man”. This track is from his later transition to gangsta / heavy rap and it has a definite LA ride out bass sound. I have not posted much of the old school LA bass as I do not know much about it except that it is rooted in car culture.
This song has what I call a get lifted beat I think the sample is from a Madonna track and the video below is classic with great car footage.
shouts to RAGE JOHNSON his blog reminded me of this track if you live in florida roll to this bass fest show november 25th. Rage is the graphic designer of the background image now used on this site.

“Rythm Is The Master” by Chuck Chillout & Kool Chip
This is one of my favorite old school tracks of all time period. It has samples of Rodney Dangerfield, Grace Jones and Talking Heads…. how can you match that? I met Chuck Chillout when I was in Trinidad Port O Spain for BET he was with Vin of Vintertainment who put out many classics. He is a real G, I wish hip-hop would go back to the sample heavy style of this and others (i.e. dust brothers). The music video is also pretty crazy too, comic book themed with nice cinematic intro.

The GETOGAMA video game review of classic arcade game NARC. This is a review of the arcade version and not the difficult NES version. I really do enjoy the genre of old school video game footage being played on the net, even more than actually playing myself. This guys video’s are a bit long as he does not edit but he entertaining in a abstract way. This game was the ultimate “just say no” syringe throwing adventure in the 80’s.
