IDM (intelligent dance music) edition - Zone3’s Bonus Traxxxxxxxx

Once again this is the section where I post music I cannot fit into my daily posts by theme with direct download’s but no preview players.  So you just have to trust me that all these songs are classic’s of IDM and worth downloading.  For me these were the songs I used to bump at parties in college in the late 90’s.  This is by no means a comprehensive deep selection of IDM but more my greatest hits from the heavyweights in the genre.  Download and Enjoy.

1. Aphex Twin - We are the Music Makers - DOWNLOAD —- early bass heavy bouncy work from the album (my favorite of his) “Selected Ambient Works 85-92” perfect chill-out track.

2. Squarepusher - A Journey to Reedham (7AM mix) - DOWNLOAD —- This song is the jam great soundtrack for any road trip. From the album “Big Loada”.

3. Squarepusher - I Wish You Could Talk - DOWNLOAD —- More intense than the above track and super complex yet sublimely simple. From the album “Go Plastic”.

4. Squarepusher - Massif (Stay Strong) - DOWNLOAD —- A very cinematic track that has a funky breakdown.  From the album “Big Loada”. Squarepusher has produced many albums and is a legend if you don’t know of him get familiar.

5. Boards of Canada - In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country - DOWNLOAD —- This is one of those songs that makes you feel like you are high without the cost of doing dope.  This track slides down your ears like honey.

6. Autechre - Bike - DOWNLOAD —- Another dark bass track,  I would love to hear someone rap over this. Autechre has been around since 1987 on warp records and have some of the illest music videos (click here to see one). From the album “Incunabula” made in 1993.

7. Autechre - Lowride - DOWNLOAD —- This verges very close to hip-hop sounding like some experimental space bass ala Bass 305. also from “Incunabula”.

8. Autechre - Montreal - DOWNLOAD —- A very accessible track compared to most this has a driving smooth’d out beat yet still dark. From the 1994 album “Amber”.

9. μ-Ziq - Slice - DOWNLOAD —- Pronounced like the word “music”. I discovered this dude in college when this album “Royal Astronomy” came out in 1999 I spent hours bumping this in my cd walkman walking the streets of NYC. He has many alias’s and side projects so read about him on wikipedia.  He even did an album with Aphex Twin.

10. μ-Ziq - Goodbye, Goodbye - DOWNLOAD —- This is the late night coming down song definitely on the emo side of idm yet a great track for the end of the night. From “Royal Astronomy” as well.
