@cristodisco + @JeLaSol @ElBarATL = Boogie Down Ponce Thursdays
Tonight (Thursday) at Atlanta’s best venue for progressive good music EL BAR located directly behind and below El Azteca on Ponce de Leon in Atlanta. DJ Rob Wonder has turned a former 1970’s hispanic swingers spot into a beacon for all the hottest dj’s and biggest shows crossing all the genre’s from Dubstep, Electro, Crunk, 90’s hip-hop ect… For the few and proud from Atlanta this is the place to go, and for those wanting a taste of something authentic with NO COVER the above flyer is your golden ticket. This bar has a special place in my heart because I have eaten at El Azteca over 500 times. I actually went to it when it was called PEPE’s as I was born and raised on chips and queso. The Boogie Down Bronx might be a gentrified historic relic, but Boogie Down Ponce is the here and now every THURSDAY for FREE all night with many undisclosed drink specials.
BONUS TRACK:::: here is a song to get you pumped up for THURSDAY @elbaratl

CLASSICS OF COMEDY series presents - RICHARD PRYOR
Which Way is Up ( The Preacher Scene )
Which Way is Up is a Richard Pryor gem from 1977.
Though the movie as a whole is a bit disjointed it has great Pryor performance’s in many different roles throughout the film. RIP RICHARD PRYOR the best comedian of all time, it’s a shame he didn’t make more movies but the ones he left are classic.

Pryor also played a prime-time preacher on his short lived network television show check out the clip below, from 1977 as well:

The Freakbeat 1970’s Hollywood cinema series: The Wild Bunch
The opening shootout scene from one of my favorite Westerns with an amazing cast. The opening scenes features a cameo role from Bo Hopkins one of the unsung Hollywood character actors. He plays the crazy one of the crew who gets killed in the first scene. This movie revolutionized the action picture with slow motion shots and kinetic energy, John Woo citing it as a major influence. Here is a trailer from the Sam Peckinpah documentary:

“Honeycomb Hideout” by Lil Chris
from wikipedia: “During the 1970s and 80s, television commercials featured a string of visitors to a clubhouse called the Honeycomb Hideout. The visitor would arrive, initially hostile, and exclaim a need for a “big” taste. The kids in the clubhouse would introduce the visitor to the cereal, winning the visitor over, examining the size of the cereal bits.”
If your thinking that this sounds like your local weed man’s house your are right.
from urban dictionary: Honeycomb Hideout
n. a place to go to get high or have a good time without having to worry about the police
Where is your Honeycomb Hideout? Mine is in my mind on an abandoned island covered in honey.

TRIBUTE TO THE WOMEN OF MY LIFE SERIES PT1
Traci Adell, Playboy centerfold July 1994. I remember stealing this issue of Playboy from a mall bookstore the summer after my eighth grade year. It was the first Playboy that I owned other than the 1970’s Penthouse issue’s taken from my friend Lowell’s father, who had both a huge collection of 70-80’s porn and millions of classical music Cd’s. Traci Adell made a few movie appearance’s, and now is a math teacher in Los Angeles.
