MASTA ACE /// ” BORN TO ROLL” /// DOWNLOAD LINK

I was first introduced to Masta Ace in the late nineties by a best of compiltation I randomly bought at Mondo Kim’s on St Marks (now sadly closed).  My routine in college at NYU was to spend all my extra money on used cd’s and vinyl at Kim’s.  In fact my girlfriend at the time was Korean and had a vague relation to Mr. Kim so I would get free VHS rentals that I would copy at my job on the video floor.  Kim’s had the best selection of movie rentals in the city hands down.

Masta Ace is a juice crew alumni who has some great golden era tracks like “Music Man”.  This track is from his later transition to gangsta / heavy rap and it has a definite LA ride out bass sound.  I have not posted much of the old school LA bass as I do not know much about it except that it is rooted in car culture.

This song has what I call a get lifted beat I think the sample is from a Madonna track and the video below is classic with great car footage.
