Zabriskie Point - Exploding Stuff END SCENE
Zabriskie Point is a 1970 film by Michelangelo Antonioni and it used to hard to find it is only recently been put on dvd. I rented this while living in midtown manhattan years ago and never returned it to the video store and my credit card got cancelled to i received many calls with the store begging me to return this great movie. This movie was a landmark as it was expected to be a big hippie themed blockbuster ala easy rider . But Michelangelo Antonioni delivered his usual introspective slow and meditative style and the movie bombed at the box office. American audience’s do not like slow movies, they never will learn… This is the end of the movie and most action packed scene 5+ minutes of a house exploding, how can you not love that…
here is a quote from a facebook conversation this morning with my friend Rich Walters:
“i fixed all the dust and scratches on l’aventura - and lost it - took off to europe and got fired from criterion (i got him the criterion job as i used to work there)
what do you want specific notes on - my memory is like ibm —- yeah but you were not inspired by Antonioni’s juant through europe of a man and his lover’s best friend — that shit ruined my life
I ended up on a train through the german snow in a sleeper car with these exchange student girls — I hadnt slept with a girl besides stella (long time gf) in four years all of a suddent i was in a bunk bed with german girls - there was no going back for me “
another slice from my life expect more quotes from myself and friends as I am trying to add actual text to this blog that will eventually make up my magnus opus self help award winning oprah’s book club - BOOK.
