1988.playoffs.game7.celtics.v.Hawks

If you are an actual Hawks fan you will immediately recognize this game as the best game in franchise history. “The Duel” as it is known in NBA lore, where the human highlight reel scored 47 points only to get beat by Bird who scored 20 points in the fourth quarter. I remember watching this game as a child and feeling a sense of joy and happiness associated with almost winning something big. Little did I know over twenty years later nothing has remotely come close to this feeling of happiness as a hawks fan as it has been a downward spiral. Yes this year we made it to the second round, I agree this is progress but there are a number of things that must change in order for the Hawks to win a championship. Here is my list:

THINGS HAWKS MUST DO THIS OFF-SEASON TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT SEASON (OR EVER?)

Sell the franchise back to Ted Turner. At the moment the hawks are owned by a board of people who don’t like each other. How can we make big moves with a bunch of idiots at the helm. We need the skipper back.
Trade Joe Johnson +(others) for Dwight Howard. I know this is unrealistic this year but it is a move we must plan ahead for as we must get Superman.
Fire Coach Mike Woodson and move Avery Johnson (and Dominique Wilkins as ass.) in as Coach. I know alot of people see Woodson as someone who turned the team around but this is not true, he will only take us so far.
Trade all of out mediocre forwards for a true Center. Bye bye Zaza and Marvin.
Get Lebron in 2010, yes I know this won’t happen but maybe if we started a fundraising campaign now, we did win the olympics in 96’, right.
Build the team around Josh Smith and a new big man (Dwight Howard or …) Josh Smith is the only player who did not play like a pussy against the Cavs this year.
Trade Bibby, he is just too old we need Chris Paul, maybe we can go back in time and actually draft him this time. Though Looks like a trade may happen for real for some of the dead weight. Not for Bibby my bet is he stays on and Acie Law goes.
