January 27, 2006 - THE FIRST Z3 YOUTUBE VIDEO - Casting Follies
This morning I have been doing a lot of retro-spection into my life and why I have done the things that I do and why the results have left me broke and disillusioned. First of all the film business basically sickens me. I literally grew up on film set’s, I was in a bank commercial as a baby (I received 100.00 for the job) as my father was an A.D/production manager. Thus being indoctrinated before I could walk I made the decision to eventually go to film school, a mistake. Only because at the time in ‘99 technology changed rapidly and the student’s suddenly knew more than the professor’s. I went to school in the limbo transition of analog to digital thus I learned to do everything, for the most part, outside of class. I also soon found out that most people in the film business resent those who went to film school because the film business prides itself on “who you know” not how good or even talented you are. I spent a number of years working on television shows/music videos/commercial’s and witnessed how creativity and inspiration are sucked out of a project. The vacuous nature of the filmmaking is rooted in the producer/client/label rep. who insists on putting their unnecesary stamp on the project. With the advent of Youtube, I have come to the conclusion to make movies for myself and those like me, the dissatisfied minority. Here are my stats that I have accumulated since the first video above:
As with everything this is another unfinished slice from my life to be continued as I plan to eventually leak every story from my life onto here until I get to the apex where I have said everything and will no longer need to talk to people in person merely refer them to this site.
