TODDLA T ::: Come Out and Play (The 2 Bears Tuned to Riddim Mix) ::: DOWNLOAD
Toddla T is from England and blowing up in the club scene right now. This is a very subtle dance track with an old house sound and a nice build up. Check out his website HERE.
The above clip is from the underrated 1974 film California Split, starring George Segal and Elliot Gould as poker hustlers. Robert Altman had a great run in the 1970’s starting with the smash M.A.S.H (1970) his use of audio with multiple mic’s and unobtrusive camerawork set the groundwork for this “reality” style that pervades today.
This scene is from 1973’s The Long Goodbye Altman’s deconstruction of the Film Noir hollywood crime genre.
1977’s 3 Women is one of Altman’s most bizarre movies you can buy it on dvd at the criterion collection (whom I am now back working for).
Altman’s stellar run in the 1970’s also included many other critical hits such as Nashville, (clip below) an episodic character driven piece that has influenced everything (i.e films such as Traffic & Crash). His run of success ended in 1980 with Popeye a big budget mainstream disaster.
A relatively old track circa 2006-07 I believe, but a classic reworking of Kim Carnes “Bette Davis Eyes”. Here is a video of a cover version on European TV:
Some electro-disco from the soundtrack to the seminal 1978 film MIDNIGHT EXPRESS. This movie along the lines of Deliverence paints a picture of something horrific that could happen to anyone. Check a clip from the opening scene when he tries to smuggle some hash in a Turkish airport of course he fails:
“1,2,3 I woke up early this morning and went to the five and dime I saw this pretty young lady that was real real fine…” CLASSIC MATERIAL from Miami’s Gucci Crew.
